La Terraza 2023

The 3rd edition of “La Terraza,” the Cultural Office’s Summer Party, is back with live music, an exhibition opening, Mahou beer, and more.
Celebrated at the Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain, a D.C. historic architectural landmark, La Terraza is a cultural experience designed to offer something different every time. La Terraza happens once a year in June, as a way to close SPAIN arts & culture’s cultural season.
La Terraza 2023 will celebrate the end of the 2022-23 season and the arrival of the summer with live music, the opening of an exhibition, cultural activities, food and drinks… and many more surprises to come! This year’s La Terraza will be, if possible, even more special, as Spain is taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1st.

Washington Store by Jesús Madriñán
Washington Store explores the use of dating apps and, in particular, the one that brands itself as “the world’s leading dating app for the LGBTQ community.” Bearing in mind Bauman’s analysis of the fragility of human bonds in present times, as many app users as possible were invited to gather together in an old warehouse, with a view to capturing a large collective portrait. The idea was to bring together in a specific physical place a group of strangers who usually share the same virtual space and who, at the same time, are worthy representatives of the social reality of the time and place they live in: Washington, D.C. A generational story in the age of modernity and liquid love.
