This Second Edition Seminar series by ECUSA will focus on the various challenges and risks associated to the fast developing AI technology.

This Second Edition Seminar series by ECUSA Washington DC, in collaboration with the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C., will address the various challenges and risks associated with the rapidly developing AI technology.

Speakers Mikel Sánchez and Daniel Barchenheimer will address these issues in their respective seminars, designed for a non-specialized audience without assuming prior knowledge of AI technology. This setup provides a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with these internationally renowned experts in a Q&A session afterwards.

Speakers

Mikel Sánchez

Mikel Sánchez, Global Sales Engineering Director at Veridas, is an expert in the fields of identity verification, biometrics, ethics, and AI innovation. With over 8 years of experience in the industry, Sánchez has played an instrumental role in driving Veridas’ growth and success, spearheading the development of cutting-edge technology that ensures maximum security without compromising user experience.

Sánchez has been featured in several leading publications and has spoken at numerous industry conferences and events. He has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing financial institutions when it comes to identity verification and biometrics, and is committed to developing responsible AI solutions that align with shared human morals.

Sánchez has led the technological development of Veridas for more than 5 years, in the field of facial biometrics, voice biometrics and identity document verification. Among his recognitions is the active participation as inventor in 12 patents.

Daniel Bachenheimer

Daniel Bachenheimer, an Electrical Engineer by training, is Accenture’s Digital Identity Innovations technical lead and has been designing and delivering solutions for over 30 years. For the past 20 years, Bachenheimer has focused on Border Management and Identity Management solutions and has been involved in large-scale Identity systems including US-VISIT and UIDAI, Trusted Traveler Programs, Multimodal Biometric systems integration, RFID implementations, along with Identity, Credential and Access Management solutions.

Bachenheimer participates in biometrics standards (INCITS, ISO/IEC SC37), blockchain standards (ISO TC307), ID Cards and Wallets (INCITS, ISO/IEC 17, is an IEEE Certified Biometrics Professional and Biometrics Institute Director and Privacy Expert Group contributing member. He is the Vice Chair of IATA’s Identity Management Working Group, participates in IATA’s OneID Task Force, INATBA’s Identity working group, in the Alan Turing Institute’s Trustworthy Digital Identity interest group, DIACC, and has contributed to World Economic Forum and World Bank reports related to Identity.
