Join us for the screening of “Júlia ist” followed by a Q&A with Spanish filmmaker Elena Martín.

Within the context of the 36th edition of the AFI European Union Film Showcase, an annual festival organized in partnership with the AFI Silver Theater and Cultural Center that brings the best of European cinema to Washington, DC-area audiences, Spanish director and actress Elena Martín Gimeno will travel to the U.S. to present two of her films: Creatura at the AFI Silver Theater and Julia ist at the Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain in Washington, D.C.

Júlia, a 21-year-old architecture student from Barcelona, decides to spend an Erasmus grant study-abroad year in Berlin. Once there, in a cold, gray city, alone for the first time, she must compare her expectations –and her own self-perceptions– with reality.
