Ensemble for These Times previews “The Guernica Project,” celebrating the 80th anniversary of Picasso’s “Guernica” with music by Zavala & Carro and Hoover & Bermel.

In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Picasso’s monumental Guernica, contemporary music chamber group Ensemble for These Times (E4TT) gives a preview performance of The Guernica Project featuring, the world premiere of University of Baltimore composer Jeffrey Hoover’s Guernica for soprano, violin, cello, and piano, with words in Spanish, Basque, German, Italian, Latin, and English.

The program also includes works by living Spanish composers from E4TT’s 2016 Call for Scores, Mario Carro and Mercedes Zavala; Death With Interruptions by Grammy-nominated Derek Bermel; Jeffrey Hoover’s Burning Giraffe; and Guernica by Frederic Sharaf.

E4TT consists of composer David Garner, soprano Nanette McGuinness, pianist Dale Tsang and guest cellist Anne Lerner-Wright. E4TT focuses on 20th and 21st century music that is relevant, engaging, original and compelling.
