The 2024 edition of “Filmfest DC” screens more than 60 films from 36 countries, including the Spanish feature “The Teacher Who Promised the Sea.”

Filmfest DC is an annual international film festival held in Washington, DC. It is the largest and longest-running film festival in the city, featuring over 80 films from around the world each year. The festival showcases a diverse selection of films, including documentaries, narratives, and shorts, covering a wide range of topics and genres.

The 2024 edition is an in-person event held from April 18 to 28, featuring a diverse lineup of films from around the world, including the critically acclaimed Spanish feature The Teacher Who Promised the Sea. As part of the festival, Filmfest DC hosts the juried Circle Award competition to select films that deserve increased recognition, and The Teacher Who Promised the Sea has been awarded this prestigious prize.
