Raphael: 6.0 Tour in Washington, DC

Raphael, one of the most well-known Spanish singers, returns to the U.S. for a tour that celebrates the beginning of his journey on stage 60 years ago.

Raphael will perform some of his best-known songs in Miami, Puerto Rico, Boston, Washington D.C., and North Carolina as part of his Raphael 6.0 tour.

Born in Spain in 1943, Raphael began singing at just three years old, winning a Europe-wide singing competition at age nine. Early on in his career, he gained notoriety for acting out the lyrics to his songs on stage, making highly dramatic gestures, wearing colorful folk costumes, and incorporating the physical language of Flamenco and bullfighting in his performances.

At the age of nine, multilingual Spanish singer and actor Rafael Martos won a children’s festival where contestants from all over Europe were competing. Now among Spain’s most prolific artists and flamboyant performers, Raphael began by representing Spain at the Eurovision Music Festival with his song Yo Soy Aquel in 1966, and returned to Eurovision the following year with Hablemos de Amor. Since then he has released more than 300 gold and 50 platinum albums.

In 1998, the artist published his 569-page biography, ¿Y Mañana Qué?, and has continued to tour and record. Not even a liver transplant at age 72 slowed him down for long. 2020’s high-charting 6.0 included duets with a wide range of Latin artists including Luis Fonsi and Natalia Lafourcade.
