Contemporary Dance From Spain: Arnau Pérez

Contemporary choreographer and dance artist Arnau Pérez presents a site-specific work with students from the Company E Summer Dance Intensive.

From June 3 to 8, Spanish choreographer Arnau Pérez will be a guest teacher at the Company E Summer Dance Intensive, where he will develop a site-specific work with dance students. In addition to this new work, Pérez will present “Young Blood” on Thursday, June 6, at the Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain.

About Arnau Pérez

Arnau Pérez is a dance artist born in Blanes, Spain. As a choreographer, his pieces have been performed all around the world, including tours in Southern Europe and Central America. His work is characterized by its dynamic content in relation to his urban background, which permits the staging of different skills and movement contrasts. In his creations, Pérez emphasizes the global use of the space together with the meticulous composition related to the concept of the piece.

His work Young Blood was awarded the public and the Young Jury Award at the 32nd Choreographic Contest of Madrid, which has given Pérez the chance to travel to Washington, D.C. in 2019 and present his site-specific work. The award also grants him the opportunity to participate in the International Choreographer Residency Program at the American Dance Festival during a six-week period in Durham, North Carolina.

Company E is a contemporary repertory dance company, dance education and interdisciplinary arts organization based in Washington, D.C. emphasizing international collaborations with the great choreographers, dancers and artists at work today.
