Six Spanish films at the 2018 Brooklyn Film Festival

The 2018 Brooklyn Film Festival is comprised of approximately 125 features and shorts from 30 countries. “Nosotros”, “Scratch”, “Two Seconds of Silence”, “Contact”, “Decorado” and “Diving Into Your Absence” represent Spain in the narrative, animation and experimental categories.

The Festival’s lineup includes 19 world premieres, 21 USA bows, 37 East Coast debuts and 30 first-time screenings in New York City. In addition to the feature narratives and documentary films highlighted in this release, the Festival will present 36 short narrative films, 16 short documentary films, 25 animated films and 20 experimental films.

Javier is an exemplary pianist, admired by the jury. Isabel plays following her feeling, praised by the audience. The two pianists will meet in a final and thei understanding of music will change the way they understand life.

Diving Into Your Absence

Diving into your absence combines rich, provocative imagery and economical design. Just as the movement in the film evokes ideas of things un-forming as you reach out to grasp them, so the concept of the work remains mobile, moving and elusive.

This is JM’s life, a young DJ with a cognitive disability, which makes his live unaware of a marginal world surrounding him. One night he will witness a beating.

A generational portrait of Spain’s youth in a time of crisis, Nosotros follows a group of five friends during the weekend of the Spanish presidential election held in December 2015, the most important one in Spain’s recent history due to the deep political and financial crisis in Southern Europe.
