Spanish pianist and composer Carlos Danés will perform two piano concert, featuring his newly composed pieces inspired by his pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain.

The concertx are a unique collection of compositions by Danés, created during an unusual pilgrimage from Espeluy (Jaén) to Santiago. This journey was not only a physical trek but also a creative odyssey, as he traveled in a horse-drawn carriage, carrying a piano with him. This peculiar journey allowed him to offer concerts throughout what is known as “empty Spain,” bringing music to places where concerts of this nature rarely reach.

Each musical piece is preceded by a brief text describing the moment and place of its composition, providing emotional and geographical context that enriches the auditory experience.

Following the 45-minute concert on May 8, the Babson Graduate Family Business Club will host a reception for attendees to meet Danés, engage in discussions about the performance and its inspiration, and connect with fellow music enthusiasts.

Carlos Danés

Carlos Danés is a Spanish pianist, composer, and entrepreneur who completed his piano studies at the Katerina Gurska Conservatory. During university, he founded the Artistic Association Música Callada, dedicated to promoting classical music among young people. After graduating, Danés moved to Switzerland to pursue a master’s degree in theology, philosophy, and anthropology. Upon returning to Spain, he established Pianorooms, a company that offers rehearsal rooms for musicians in Madrid, and the sound studio Solson.

He has given concerts in various venues, notably at the Metropolitan University of Caracas and the National Auditorium of Madrid. He is currently focused on his doctoral thesis on the director and composer Kristof Penderecki, and on composing new musical pieces for upcoming concerts.
