Tapas Tour PDX

Portland joins the sixth international edition of World Tapas Day, celebrated on June 15th, through a week of gastronomic experiences around Spanish cuisine.

For the third year in a row, the United States takes part in this widely-anticipated culinary event. Having positioned itself as a world-class food capital, Portland has been chosen as the center of this celebration on the West Coast.

Under the name of Tapas Tour PDX, eleven restaurants and establishments across Portland join this tasty celebration which promises to take patrons on a seven-day exploration of Spanish cuisine via a tapas route.

Participating restaurants and establishments –Ataula, Bar Casa Vale, Bar Vivant, Can Font, Chesa, Conserva, MEC (Mediterranean Exploration Company), Pollo Bravo, Toro Bravo, Urdaneta and 180 PDX– all offer varied samples of Spain’s fine gastronomy through tapas from June 12-18. Selected locations such as Tournant, Plaza del Toro, Williams Sonoma, and the newly-inaugurated AC Hotel Portland Downtown also host special events.

On such a special occasion, Spanish gastronomy and the lively foodie environment of Portland come together thanks to renowned Chef Mikel De Luis, from the northern region of the Basque Country. De Luis serves as an Ambassador for Spanish cuisine, and collaborates with Spanish Chef Gemma Gray, from Castilla and León, as well as with members of the prestigious Culinary School Santo Domingo de Archidona, from Málaga, who will arrive in Portland directly from Spain and will actively participate in different events during Tapas Tour PDX. This week-long celebration promises to be not only a gastronomic festival, but also an educational culinary experience.
