Pablo Sáinz Villegas plays Falla, Rodrigo and Palomo

Spanish guitar player Pablo Sainz Villegas performs at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in duo with acclaimed violinist Augustin Hadelich.

Dynamic guitarist Pablo Villegas is hailed as “the master of the guitar” by legendary Plácido Domingo. On this concert he shares the stage as duo with Augustin Hadelich, lauded for his “gorgeous tone” (The New York Times) and well placed in the top echelon of young violinists.

The recital they have put together has Hadelich and Sainz Villegas performing several works together, including a world premiere by composer L. Palomo as well as pieces by Piazzolla, de Falla and Biber.

Interspersed are solo works: Villegas in Rodrigo’s Invocación y Danza and Dyen’s Tango en skaii, and Hadelich in Ysaÿe’s monumental Sixth Solo Violin Sonata. The program concludes with the duo performing one of Paganini’s most beloved compositions, Mosè Fantasia, a dazzling set of variations on Dal tuo stellate from Rossini’s Moses in Egypt.
