Carlos Núñez U.S. Tour 2013 in Philly

The Jimi Hendrix of the Bagpipes will be touring the U.S. this summer presenting his new album Discover.

If it’s possible to become a pop star playing traditional music on the bagpipes and recorder, Núñez could be the man.

—Los Angeles Times

Carlos Núñez began his career as a successful bagpiper at the age of eight. He has previously performed with the The Chieftans and has completed many collaboration albums and singles with international artists. Incorporating the traditional music of his homeland of Galicia, Spain with Celtic influences, Núñez has developed a unique style that has captured the hearts of many fans.

Celebrating the release of his latest album in 2012, he embarked on his immensely successful first North American tour in October 2012. Nunez continues to explore alternative genres, especially focusing on the use of the traditional gaita bagpipe in modern Celtic music.

Carlos Nuñez will be touring the U.S. this summer in support of his latest Sony Masterworks release, Discover, a 2-CD set, where he collaborates with The Chieftains, Linda Ronstadt, Los Lobos, Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder, Waterboys frontman Mike Scott, Sinéad O’Connor, Laurie Anderson, Flamenco guitarist Vicente Amigo, Brazilian star Carlinhos Brown, Early Music master Jordi Savall, Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballé, and Buena Vista Social Club members Omara Portuondo, Compay Segundo and Cachaito. He became an honorary member of the Chieftains in their Grammy award-winning album Santiago and he had a Number One Hit in the Spanish Radio charts. Seeing him perform live, one is gripped by his sensitivity, energy and virtuosity.

Watch Carlos Nuñez perform Alborada de Veiga.
