Spanish Heritage Concert by Guillermo Hernández Barrocal
Spanish pianist Guillermo Hernández Barrocal will offer a piano solo recital, including works by Albéniz and Granados, at the “Hispanic Heritage Piano Festival” in Florida.
To celebrate the Hispanic Heritage Month, young Spanish pianist Guillermo Hernández Barrocal has been invited by the Hispanic Heritage Piano Festival in Florida, organized by HAPCO Music Youth Arts, to offer a Spanish solo piano recital that will include works by Spanish composers Albéniz and Granados, as well as some romantic international music by Chopin and Liszt:
- Chopin: Ballade As-dur No.3 Op47 / Valses Op34 / Scherzo Cis-moll No.3 Op39
- Albeniz: Iberia: El Puerto, Triana
- Granados: El Pelele
- Liszt: Rhapsodie Espagnole
About the artist
Born in 2008, Guillermo Hernández Barrocal is currently a student at the Katarina Gurska Superior Conservatory in Madrid with Andrey Yaroshinsky. He also composes and has already received conducting lessons. As a pianist, he has participated in several master classes with teachers such as Josep Colom, Joaquín Soriano Vincenzo Balzani and Pavel Girilov, and has received scholarships in workshops and academies in Spain, Italy and the USA.
He has been awarded in some national and international competitions in Spain (Madrid, Alcalá de Henares, Segovia, Valladolid, Granada and Estepona), Budapest (Sofia) and Belgium (Brussels). He was a semifinalist at the Nutcracker Competition in Moscow and Cleveland Piano Competition. In January, he participated in the Jeune Chopin celebrated in Switzerland, where he got the second place.
Hernández Barrocal has played recitals in several auditoriums and festivals such as Cap Roig together with Ainhoa Arteta and Andrés Salado, Madrid Piano City at the Conde Duque auditorium, Jesús López Cobos at the LaTorre de Toro theater, Las Piedras cantan in León and Aguilar de Campoo, MUSEG in Segovia and Festival dell’Alto Adige in Italy.
As a soloist, he performed his first piano concerto with orchestra at the age of 11 at the Ciudad de León Auditorium, with Beethoven’s third piano concerto. He has also performed concerts at the National Auditorium in Madrid, with the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra in Malaga, and twice with the Orphei String Orchestra in Sofia.
In June 2021 he published his first record dedicated to the romantic composers Schumann, Liszt and Chopin.
