Chief Curator Xavier F. Salomon examines works by Spain’s most celebrated artists belonging to the Frick Collection.

Henry Clay Frick collected works by major Spanish painters. On the occasion of the Murillo: The Self-Portraits exhibition, The Frick Collection organizes a series of lectures and talks to present to the audience remarkable Spanish paintings belonging to The Frick’s Collection.

Spanish Paintings at The Frick is a series of monthly lectures where the Frick’s Peter Jay Sharp chief curator examines, in turn, four great Spanish painters and their works in the permanent collection: Murillo, El Greco, Velázquez and Goya.

  • On Sunday, November 12 at noon: Murillo
  • On Sunday, December 10 at noon: El Greco
  • On Sunday, January 14 at noon: Velázquez
  • On Sunday, February 11 at noon: Goya
