Iván Hidalgo: RetratARTE
Spanish photographer and artist Iván Hidalgo is a rising star in the fashion and advertising circuit in Spain.
After exhibiting in Madrid, Florence and Venice, Hidalgo is coming to New York City. In recent years, the Madrid-based artist has undertaken more intimate projects in which he mixes photography and painting with an underground label. The protagonists are solitary –characters of the night world, dancers, boxers, urban creatures, etc.
ARTIFACT gallery hosts the exhibition RetratArte, a small sample of the talent of Iván Hidalgo that represents a great qualitative leap that will allow you to enjoy the work of the Madrilenian artist. RetratArte builds on the learning and emotions experienced in previous works, which always included a strong component of social protest.
Hidalgo began his career winning the first prize of the photography contest promoted by the Spanish Association Against Cancer. He later participated in the exhibition 18 seconds, promoted by Spain’s Instituto de la Mujer, which denounced the violence against women. In his work Havana-India he addressed the injustice of disadvantaged children and the drama of the separation of brothers for the Aldeas Infantiles NGO.
