¡Felicidades, Maestro! A piano recital by Joaquín Achúcarro

In celebration of his 90th birthday, Joaquín Achúcarro will give a piano recital at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

¡Felicidades, Maestro! is a concert series performed in honor of Joaquín’s 90th birthday. This 90th Birthday Tour, which is being presented in partnership with the Embassy of Spain and Consulates of Spain throughout the U.S., was inaugurated in Washington, D.C., and will include concerts in Dallas, Chicago, New York, San Diego, Seattle, Miami, Madrid and Bilbao in 2022.

Maestro Achúcarro will perform works by Brahms, Chopin, Debussy, Falla, Granados and Albéniz.

About Joaquín Achúcarro

From 1989 until spring of 2022, Maestro Achúcarro held the Joel Estes Tate Chair in piano in the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. While there, he enriched the Dallas community and enhanced global relations by bringing young students from all over the globe to the Meadows School to study piano.

Joaquín Achúcarro began his career with his victory at the Liverpool International Competition in 1959. Since then, he has performed in 58 countries with more than 200 orchestras and 300 conductors from around the world. He is described as “one of the greats” by ABC Madrid and “a consummate artist” by the Chicago Sun-Times. His many awards include two of Spain’s most prestigious honors in the arts, the National Music Prize, awarded in 1992 by the Spanish government, and the Gold Medal of Fine Arts, awarded by King Juan Carlos I. In 1999, he was named UNESCO’s 2000 ”Artist for Peace.”
