A conversation with Spanish Writer Marta Barrio in New York

Join Marta Barrio at Andalucía TRADE in the iconic Chrysler Building in New York as she presents her novel “No volverán tus ojos a mirarme.”

In this work, Barrio explores the captivating love story and nostalgia of her grandparents within the backdrop of the city of Cádiz, Spain. Through her prose, she invites readers to contemplate themes of life, desire, memory, and loss, offering a compelling journey into the heart of Andalusia. Experience this immersive literary experience alongside the author herself.

Marta Barrio

Marta Barrio, a Spanish author and editor born in New Haven in 1986, gained recognition with her debut novel The Wild Cats of Kerguelen (2020) in the crime genre, and was praised by critics, who celebrated her ability to perturb with the story and atmosphere.

Her second book, Leña menuda (2021), made her the youngest winner of the Tusquets Prize. Her third novel, No volverán tus ojos a mirarme, delves into the protagonist’s childhood.

For a decade she has also been an editor at Alianza Editorial, where she is in charge of the Alianza Literaturas collection.
