Spain’s Great Untranslated

SPAIN arts & culture and Words Without Borders brings authors, poets, editors, translators and other local guests to Miami, Houston and Albuquerque this Fall.

Join us for the much-anticipated U.S. tour of Words Without Borders anthology of great Spanish works, previously little-known to English-speaking audiences. This tour will give audiences the chance to meet and talk with some of the contributors to this anthology.

Several members of the project, from editors to translators to the authors and poets themselves, will present in three different U.S. cities about the value of translation and about what this diverse array of Spanish language poetry, fiction and essays —many appearing in English for the first time in this anthology— can reveal about Spanish culture.

In Miami Valerie Miles (moderator) will present alongside poet Olvido Garcia Valdes, novelist Miquel de Palol, and translator Forrest Gander.

Spain’s Great Untranslated (Words Without Borders March 2013 issue) features works by Spanish authors Juan Eduardo Zúñiga, Cristina Fernández Cubas, Miquel de Palol, Pedro Zarraluki, Fernando Aramburu, Ignacio Martínez de Pisón, Berta Vías Mahou, Antonio Gamoneda, Tono Masoliver, Pere Gimferrer, Olvido García Valdés, and César Antonio Molina.

This event will be live streamed. Presented in conjunction with the 2013 exhibition series Commemorating 500 Years 1513-2013: Spain, Florida and the Caribbean.
A glass of wine will be offered to the attendees at the end of the panel discussion. Spain’s Great Untranslated will be available for purchase at the event.
