Duncan Dhu, El Guincho, Extraperlo and Los Nastys at RuidoFest

Spanish bands Duncan Dhu, El Guincho, Extraperlo and Los Nastys play at RuidoFest, Chicago’s only 3-day Latin Alternative Music Festival taking place July 7-9.

The three-year old festival returns to Addams/Medill park in Chicago’s long established Latinx enclave of Pilsen, featuring more than 40 bands, including 4 from Spain:

Duncan Dhu

  • On Friday, July 7.
  • Duncan Dhu is a Spanish group created in San Sebastián, Spain in 1984. After more than 30 years, the two members, Mikel Erentxun and Diego Vasallo are still playing their pop-rock with a touch of rockabilly. The group’s best-known hit is En Algún Lugar.

El Guincho

  • On Saturday, July 8.
  • El Guincho is the recording alias of Spanish musician Pablo Díaz-Reixa. Also a member of Coconot, Díaz-Reixa rose to prominence with his 2008 album, Alegranza! His musical style relies heavily on the use of sampling and incorporates elements of Afrobeat, dub, Tropicália and rock and roll. Díaz-Reixa achieves what he’s described as a kind of “space-age exotica”.

Los Nastys

  • On Saturday, July 8.
  • With two EP’s to their credit, they managed to draw the attention of the public, the critics, many festivals and agents. Their song Fumar, Beber y Romper won Radio 3’s “Best song of the year,” one of Spain’s major radio station.

Extraperlo

  • On Saturday, July 8.
  • Extraperlo is a Band from Barcelona composed by Alba Blasi, Aleix Clavera, Borja Rosal, Cacho Salvador and Pau Retort. The band has already published 3 music albums: Desayuno Continental (2009), Delirio Específico (2012), and the latest one, Chill aquí (2016).
