27th Annual Festival Flamenco Internacional de Albuquerque

Six days and nights of workshops and concerts given by Spain’s most celebrated flamenco artists including Eva Yerbabuena, Farruquito, La Lupi, and Alfonso Losa.

Festival Flamenco Internacional is the largest gathering of flamenco dance and music in the United States, with the most diverse and high quality flamenco experience available in terms of education and performance.

This year’s performers include an all-star line up of Spanish flamenco superstars that represent a wide display of talent and styles ranging from traditional flamenco to cutting-edge performances: Farruquito, La Lupi, and Alfonso Losa.

Eva Yerbabuena: “¡AY! ”

• On Monday, June 9 at 8 pm, at Rodey Theatre.
• Eva Yerbabuena, winner of the Premios Max for best female artist for Ay!, is magnetic, powerful, and supernatural. Eva Yerbabuena leaves the imprint of her rhythms on your very existence.

La Lupi: “Retorno”

• On Tuesday, June 10 at 8 pm, at Rodey Theatre.
• Hailing from Málaga, the distinguished La Lupi and her company offer a challenging look at the temperamental beauty of flamenco past and present. RETOrno is a stripping of the soul in which La Lupi transmits the essence of flamenco from every fragment of her being.

Eva Yerbabuena: “Lluvia ”

• On Wednesday, June 11 at 8 pm, at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
• The flamenco production of the decade! Eva Yerbabuena’s award-winning company of dancers and musicians takes us to the depths of the human spirit in this daring, chilling artistic journey in an electrifying production.

Alfonso Losa: “Tendencias”

• On Thursday, June 12 at 8 pm, at Rodey Theatre.
• The explosive Nino de los Reyes and Jesús Carmona join lead dancer, Alfonso Losa, as they push the limits of what we know about flamenco, dance, and reverence for tradition. Tendencias is virtuosic flamenco at its finest; a statement on the sometimes controversial evolution of the art form.

Fiesta Flamenca: A Gala Performance

• On Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14 at 8 pm, at National Hispanic Cultural Center.
• One of the hallmarks of Festival Flamenco, Fiesta Flamenca gathers all of Festival Flamenco’s headliners on one stage as they celebrate the power and diversity of flamenco artistry. This closing gala performance will feature Farruquito in his only presentation during Festival Flamenco, as he joins us to promote his upcoming fall tour.
