Program

  • Clara Schumann: Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann, Op. 20.
  • Robert Schumann: Sonata No. 3 in F minor, Op. 14, III. Quasi variazioni. Andantino de Clara Wieck.
  • Johannes Brahms: Variations on a Theme of Robert Schumann, Op. 9.

A pianist of impeccable and refined tastes, blessed with a warmth of touch.

The Telegraph

Spanish pianist Javier Perianes has traveled the world and performed with many leading conductors and musicians in the field, but his recordings are intimate—walled-off to the world and feeling almost like they were performed in a vacuum. His reading of Debussy’s Clair de lune has poignant timelessness and moments of deep reflection, its delicate harmonies disintegrating into thin air. His Schubert and Mendelssohn recordings are equally pristine and well-contemplated. Perianes’ readings of Spanish comrades like de Falla and Blasco de Nebra have a transcendental tenderness that gives them profound significance.
