Life & Nothing More at 2018 Filming America

Filming America features a series of films and documentaries showing distinctive perspectives of contemporary American life, including “Life & Nothing More,” a coming-of-age drama that follows a teen boy yearning to find purpose in life.

Life & Nothing More

On the edge of adulthood, Andrew (Andrew Bleechington) yearns to find his purpose. With his mother (Regina Williams) longing to find more to her life than parenting, Andrew is forced to take on the mounting pressure of family responsibility. However, his search for connection with an absent father leads him to a precarious crossroad. With a style that bears comparison to Italian Neorealism, this drama won the 2018 Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award.

One of the year’s most essential films.

It’s a vital, singularly crafted film that simply tells it… like it is through the eyes of a struggling African American single mother and the adolescent son she desperately wants to keep out of trouble against the mounting odds.
