Visions of Asturias: La línea de sombra

As part of the exhibition “Visions of Asturias,” the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. will screen three documentaries about the participating photographers.

The exhibition Visions of Asturias, displayed on the outer fence of the Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain, illustrates the distinctive and personal vision of four different Spanish National Photography Prize winners of this particular region in northern Spain.

As an extension of this open-air photography show, the Cultural Office will screen three documentaries about three of the photographers included in the exhibition, starting with The line of a shadow:

La línea de sombra (The line of a shadow)

  • On Wednesday, March 30 at 6:30 pm.
  • Directed by Nicolás Combarro, Spain, 2017, 82 minutes.
  • In Spanish with English subtitles. Watch trailer.

The line of a shadow is the portrait of Alberto García-Alix, one of the most important photographers on the national art scene and a benchmark for an entire generation. The film is a direct testimony of the lights and shadows that García-Alix has had to go through to find his way.
