The music of Vicente Martín y Soler
La Serenata, the performing group of The American Center for Puccini Studies, will perform pieces by Spanish opera composer Vicente Martin y Soler, during an operatic Happy Hour titled “Martinis with Martin.”
This event has been canceled.
Some of the best-known works by Martin y Soler will be performed by La Serenata.
Vincente Martín y Soler (Valencia, 1754) was a composer of opera and ballet, who was often compared to his contemporary, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. A native of Spain, his career successfully traversed paths throughout Italy, Austria, Russia, and England, working for Ferdinand I of Naples, Josef II, Lorenzo Da Ponte, Catherine the Great, and the King’s Theatre. Light-hearted, yet poignant and sincere, his operas united the world’s most powerful realms with his global art.
