Spanish Young Music Talents: Víctor Carrascosa at the Czech Embassy in Washington, DC

Spanish jazz musician Víctor Carrascosa will perform at the Czech Embassy in Washington, DC as part of his participation in the program “Spanish Young Music Talents”.

Spanish Young Music Talents (SYMT) is the new program of the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. SYMT has been envisioned to enhance and support Spanish young musicians’ careers, in collaboration with U.S. music schools and universities at a higher level (bachelor and graduate students orchestras), offering them an experience abroad.

SYMT aims to offer young musicians not only a concert or recital in the U.S., but a complete experience with complementary activities such as masterclasses, talks, conferences, etc. to broaden their opportunities and contacts. All visiting musicians are winners of the Juventudes Musicales de España national award and under 30 years old.

As part of his participation in Spanish Young Music Talents, Víctor Carrascosa will perform an exclusive concert with Czech pianist Jiří Levíček. They will feature jazz compositions by Ellington, Monk, Ježek, and others at the Czech Embassy in Washington, DC. This performance is part of the program Music and Chocolate: Tastes and Sounds from Europe, which includes a chocolate tasting featuring treats from Slovenia (Leone), the Czech Republic (Steiner & Kovarik), and Spain (Jolonch). Program details will be announced soon.

Víctor Carrascosa

Víctor Carrascosa is a young jazz trumpeter from Barcelona who has already established himself as an emerging figure in the national jazz scene. Carrascosa studied trumpet at the Conservatori Superior Liceu under professors Matthew-Lee Simon, Oscar Latorre, and Bill McHenry. During his time there, Carrascosa participated in several large ensembles within the Jazz and Modern Music Department, including the Liceu Jazz Group, Liceu Big Band, and Liceu Gran Ensemble. Carrascosa received the Extraordinary Jazz and Modern Music Interpretation Prize at the Conservatori Superior Liceu for the 2023-2024 academic year — a prestigious award is presented annually to the top students in each musical specialty.

Rooted in jazz tradition, his artistic direction also incorporates elements of modern music. He now performs and collaborates with talented musicians, showcasing his trumpet skills at various venues and jazz festivals.
