Rosario, an elderly woman living with her disabled son Ofelio, along with a donkey and a goat, earns a living by selling fig salt. This product is well-known among the elderly for its ancient uses, while younger customers often mix it with pharmaceutical tranquilizers and other ingredients. The village of La Mancha, where they reside, suffers from the gambling addiction of its residents and leaders, who have decided to sell it. The inhabitants face forced sales and eviction, but Rosario’s house and the lagoon are located in the heart of the municipal district. Therefore, she organizes a resistance to the best of her ability.
