Agua, Azucarillos y Aguardient & La Tempranica

Teatro Lirico of DC presents a double-bill program of two of the most beloved zarzuelas.

Teatro Lirico of DC presents two timeless classics, Agua, Azucarillos y Aguardiente (Water, Sweets, and Spirits) and La Tempranica (The yearning soul).

Agua, Azucarillos y Aguardiente boasts waltzes, mazurkas and Spanish dances that will lift the audience spirit, while La Tempranica, set in luscious Granada, features a vibrant score that rivals the electricity of Bizet’s Carmen. The program also includes a “fin de fiesta” (mini-concert bonus) in celebration of Teatro Lirico’s fourth anniversary. Performed with soloists, orchestra, chorus, and the Ballet Furia Flamenca.

Teatro Lirico of DC was created to respond to the lack of opportunities for enjoying Hispanic classical music and Hispanic opera singers in the Washington, DC area. Teatro Lirico of DC specializes in staged performances of opera, zarzuelas (Spanish light operas), and concerts of art songs. Its repertoire spans from early Baroque to contemporary music.
