The 6th Edition of Puerto Rico’s Festival de la Palabra will have Writing in Violent Times as the main topic.

The 6th Edition of Puerto Rico’s Festival de la Palabra will take place this October in San Juan. These year the Festival is dedicated to the poet Francisco Matos Paoli, in the celebration of the centenary of his birth (1915). The outstanding contribution of filmmaker, writer and a playwright Jacobo Morales will also be recognized.

The festival features the strong presence of Spanish authors, and this year includes the participation of Esther Bendahan, Luisgé Martín, José Ovejero, Edurne Portela, Ignacio del Valle, Paloma González Rubio, Enrique de Hériz, Alfonso Mateo-Sagasta, Ismael Martínez, Biurrún, Elia Barceló, Ricardo Menéndez Salmón, Berna González Harbour, María Ángeles Pérez López, José Nolla (playwright) and Javier Ruibal (songwriter).

The central topic of debate at this year’s festival will be Writing in Violent Times and it will comprise of more than one hundred activities like speeches, debates, panel discussions, poetry readings, concerts, film screenings and meetings with students from schools and universities.
