Theatre Flamenco: (R)evolution
Theatre Flamenco is kicking off its 49th season with the new show (R)evolution that will pay homage to the traditional roots of flamenco music and dance, with a few modern twists.
(R)evolution will feature eight new works focusing on the musical elements integral to the tradition of flamenco, while presenting a modernized approach to the dance and interpretation. The show promises to provoke debate –evolution or revolution– that will continue when Theatre Flamenco presents a series of shows with Andrés Marín later in November.
The international lineup of special guest artists for this new show includes the legendary Carmen Ledesma from Sevilla, Spain. Born and raised in the Triana district of Sevilla, Ledesma is one of the foremost representatives of the Gypsy style of dance from Triana. A dancer since the tender age of 4, she made her Bay Area debut in 2014 at the Cowell Theater in San Francisco. Her presence, personality and passion are incredible, and the audience is sure to enjoy her interactions with the singers, musicians and dancers that share the stage with her. Ledesma radiates flamenco tradition.
