Hernando’s Hideaway by Gustavo Ramírez Sansano

Spanish choreographer Gustavo Ramírez Sansano premieres the short film “Hernando’s Hideaway” in collaboration with BalletX.
In collaboration with filmmakers Elliot deBruyn and Nathaniel Brown and performed by BalletX dancers Zachary Kapeluck, Blake Krapels and Richard Villaverde, this piece by Gustavo Ramírez Sansano features costumes by Mark Eric and lighting by Alyssandra Docherty. It was filmed on location at Philadelphia’s Glen Foerd Mansion, built in 1850 in the Italianate architecture style, and at Plays & Players Theatre.
The choreography is set to the song Hernando’s Hideaway by Jerry Ross and Richard Adler, performed by The Johnston Brothers.
It called my attention from the first moment I heard it, more than 10 years ago. After the lockdown I got BalletX’s proposal, and I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to create the work that has been in my head for so long.
