Son de España: soprano Laura Alonso Padín and pianist Yelena Kurdina

Classical Music Partners International presents the New York solo debut recital of Spanish soprano Laura Alonso Padín accompanied by MET pianist Yelena Kurdina.
This song recital samples Spanish folklore through the classical compositions of 20th century luminaries Rodolfo Halffter, Joaquín Rodrigo, Joaquín Nin, Eduardo Toldrá, and Xavier Montsalvatge. The program concludes with rarely heard works that highlight classical song and contemporary composers from Galicia in Galego, by Fernando Buide y Abe Rábade.

Performers
Spanish soprano Laura Alonso has toured throughout the United States, Asia and Latin America, performing pieces from Obradors to Schumann. She has sung under the batons of Maestros Ion Marin, Philippe Jordan, Karel Mark Chichon, Helmuth Rilling and Stefan Soltesz among many others. As an active recording artist, Ms. Padín has recorded for Naxos and for Orf disc labels, the later earning her a Diapason d’Or.
Pianist Yelena Kurdina has been a specialist in Russian repertoire at The Metropolitan Opera for over 20 years, has partnered with many of the most outstanding singers of our time, such as Placido Domingo and Renee Fleming. She has collaborated with Opera National de Paris, Houston Grand Opera, Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville (Spain) and both the National Symphony Orchestra and Washington National Opera in Washington, D.C.
