Spanish choreographer Raquel Madrid and dancer Anabel Veloso participate in APAP-NYC, the world’s premier gathering of the performing arts presenting industry and the annual members conference of APAP, the Association of Performing Arts Professionals.
Anabel Velasco
Anabel Velasco’s Company, currently the resident company at the Teatro Auditorio de Roquetas de Mar (Almería, Spain) celebrates its tenth anniversary. Veloso completed the intermediate level of Spanish Dance and Flamenco with Rafael Córdoba and Matilde Coral (in Madrid and Seville, respectively) and has perfected her technique with masters such as Eva Yerbabuena, José Antonio Ruiz, José Granero, Javier Latorre, and younger artists such as Rafaela Carrasco, Belén Maya and La China, among others. She has developed her interpretative career in legendary tablaos such as El Corral de la Morería, El Café de Chinitas and El Corral de La Pacheca, and with such companies as Cristina Hoyos, María Pagés and the Nuevo Ballet Español.
Raquel Madrid
Bailaora and choreographer Raquel Madrid, has been learning in different countries about the art of flamenco. She has a bachelor’s degree in law, dramatic art and contemporary dance from Seville University, Spain. In 2005 she founded the 2proposiciones Danza-Teatro dance company that promotes direct communication with the viewer by using movement as a vehicle for storytelling. The company has taken part in different national and international festivals and has received awards by the Professional Andalusian Dance Association (PAD).
