Ignacio Prego performs 'El Canto del Cavallero' in New York

Ignacio Prego performs on the harpsichord keyboard music from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries at the Spanish Court.

The program presented by Spanish harpsichordist Ignacio Prego takes its name from the opening piece, a set of Diferencias (variations) written by the great Antonio de Cabezón.

This piece is the beginning of a fascinating journey through three Centuries of Spanish keyboard music, which starts in the mid 16th century in the Court of Felipe II and finishes in the mid 18th century, with the popular Fandango by Antonio Soler. Tientos, Batallas, Folias, Chaconas and other dances blend together, creating an appealing program, which will be introduced in a lecture by prestigious scholar Dr. David Schulenberg.
