City of Love at NFMLA's April Monthly Film Festival 2023

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) presents its “April Monthly Film Festival,” including the Los Angeles Premiere of “City of Love,” the second feature film by Spanish director Èric Boadella.
This year’s edition of The April Monthly Film Festival of Los Angeles features its annual InFocus: Disability program. The day includes a presentation of the finalist films from this year’s Easterseals Disability Film Challenge, the U.S. premiere of Approaching Shadows, and Spring Shorts, a collection of highlights from NFMLA’s ongoing selection.
The festival concludes with the Los Angeles premiere of City of Love, the second feature from award-winning Spanish writer-director Èric Boadella, a slow-burn of a film which follows one man’s tumultuous attempts to reintegrate into society and attune to the people around him after 20 years in prison through driving for a ride share app.

About the director
Èric Boadella is an award-winning Spanish director with a rather unique background: electronic Engineering and punk rock. His first feature film, Toastmaster (2014), won Best Director and Best Script at the 17th Malaga Film Festival, where it was acquired by Canal+. Boadella has worked as a writer-producer for companies such Fox TV and Apple Music, and was one of the seven directors selected for the 2018-2019 FOX TV Directors Lab. He is currently developing his third feature, a horror thriller set in the 80s music scene.
