Brickman Brando Bubble Boom at Off Center Festival

Using live feed video, rhythmic music, and minimalist choreography, Agrupación Señor Serrano creates a searing indictment of rampant consumerism and the speculative bubble.

Barcelona-based Agrupación Señor Serrano explore the concept of home in an innovative, multi-media theatrical presentation featuring searing funk music, minimalist choreography and live-feed video and tracking the experience of home ownership and loss through the story of Jim Brickman, who gave the world the first mortgage system in Victorian England. Brickman’s story is meshed with that of the actor plays him – Marlon Brando, the American icon who searched for home his entire life. Performed in English and Spanish with English supertitles.

Constant dismantling of format and genre, fun experimentation, and simplicity of form paired with deep social and existential questioning.

About Agrupación Señor Serrano

Agrupación Señor Serrano is a heterogeneous company dedicated to the performing arts, which creates a short-circuit between hyper-innovative technological products and other modern vintage pieces, combining theatre, dance and video-art to achieve a wicked and highly original dramatic language that explores the mechanisms of human perception. Experiments, live elaborations, destabilizing performance actions and interaction are the codes of Agrupación Señor Serrano with a creativity that turns the video image into a scathing language.
