La Compania de Manuel Liñán: Flamenco Music and Dance from Spain

Direct from Madrid, the award-winning La Compañía de Manuel Liñán performs live flamenco and teaches flamenco dance and music cursillos.

He was so mesmerizing that if someone had yelled ‘Fire,’ I doubt anyone in the audience would have budged.

—Alan Helms, Ballet Magazine

Born in Granada, Spain in 1980, Manuel Liñán grew up dancing in festivals, and tablaos. His formal dancing career began at age 17 in Madrid, where he worked for years as a soloist and worked with major flamenco artists such as Carmen Cortés, La Tati, and Merche Esmeralda.

He has since appeared as a soloist in some of Spain’s most prestigious festivals, including the Festival de Los Tarantos, Festival de Union, Certamen de Danza Española y Flamenco de Madrid, Festival de Jerez, and the Bienal de Sevilla.

In 2003, he created Compañía ESS3 Movimiento with Daniel Doña and Marco Flores, and produced Un millón de emociones. He won the Lorca award in New York with a production by Curro Albaicín. Most recently, Mr. Liñán won the Revelación award for his production of Tauro in the 2012 Festival de Jerez. He will accept that award during the 2013 festival in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, just before arriving in Atlanta.
