'ON! Handcrafted Digital Playgrounds'

'ON! Handcrafted Digital Playgrounds'

An interactive exhibition celebrating our intuitive attraction to play, ON! transforms the CAC galleries into a collection of playgrounds where creativity is limitless and experimentation is the norm.

Play will be to the 21st century what work was to the last 300 years of industrial society–our dominant way of knowing, doing and creating value.

—Pat Kane

The exhibition features installations from some of the most creative minds breaking ground today —artists who are sought after by the entertainment industry, Silicon Valley and museums alike. They personify the new reality of creative production today: genre-bending, creative ingenuity at its most fun.

From hi-tech to analog, these artists use code and circuitry as adeptly as paper, ink and canvas. Their interactive installations, games, drawings and toys all engage the visitors’ imagination and encourage participation. Together they form a new kind of museum experience where the visitor is player, tinkerer, maker and collaborator.

These are playgrounds, after all–so game on. This is the new recess. Now let’s play!

ON! is an exhibition conceived, curated and launched to coincide with OFFF Cincinnati —a one-day creative conference featuring the biggest names and brightest minds exploring design and technology today. OFFF Cincinnati is an annual event that brings artists and designers from around the world to share their work and inspiration with the Cincinnati creative community. The passion and diversity of techniques that the presenters share, from analog and handcraft to cutting edge digital processes, makes the conference unique.
