Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía presents 'Metáfora' in Tampa

Flamenco's finest dancers and musicians from Andalusia perform in Tampa as part of Flamenco Festival's 2013 U.S. Tour.

Metáfora is an impeccable show with a stylistic variety that offers a vision of flamenco dance polished by classical and folkloric elements.

—Silvia Calado, Flamenco world (February 2012)

The ensemble is appealingly youthful and energetic.

The New York Times

Metáfora is a study in contrasts between the classical and folk elements of the dance itself and the highly disciplined technique of the cast. Soloists include Pastora Galván whose sensual style evokes more fluid rhythms than the usual stately posture of traditional flamenco, and Rocío Molina, who is considered to be one of the most exciting dancers working in flamenco today.

Produced by the Instituto Andaluz del Flamenco and directed by award-wining Ruben Olmo, Metáfora presents a program that will transport the audience to the emotion, drama and passion of Andalucía, the cradle of flamenco.

Flamenco Festival is dedicated to the promotion of flamenco artists outside of Spain. Flamenco Festival's international annual events showcase the leading Flamenco names of today, from world renowned artists and icons of traditional flamenco to the most innovative, emerging young stars of Flamenco, dance music and song. Flamenco Festival USA was founded in 2001, and since then has become a stable showcase for Spanish artists, taking place in New York, Washington D.C., Miami, Boston and other American cities.
