Andrés Corchero at 'Flower of the Season 2012'

The Flower of the Season 2012 introduces the exquisite work of Andres Corchero, a profoundly fierce, honest and humorous dancer and choreographer whose performance is rarely seen outside of Spain.

Body Weather Laboratory presents Flower of the Season 2012. Now in its 8th year, Flower of the Season produces outstanding dance within a deeply considered, minimal yet encompassing approach to space and theatricality and well known artists.

Andres Corchero studied theater, miming and circus, trained with Odin Teatret, Shushaku and Dormu Dance and performed in Barcelona before travelling to Japan in 1986. He joined Mai-Juku, the dance company directed by Min Tanaka, and toured internationally. He returned to Spain in 1990 and received the National Dance Award in 2003 from the Culture Department of Catalonia, in recognition of his professional career. He currently combines his work as artistic director and performer of Raravis dance company with teaching in the Barcelona Theater Institute.

Oguri, based in Los Angeles since 1991, is an internationally recognized dancer and choreographer, whose site-specific and theater pieces have received numerous awards. Oguri and Corchero began their professional careers together in the same dance troupe in Japan and have inspired and assisted each other’s work.

Mark Dresser is a central figure in avant-garde jazz for more than three decades. A Los Angeles-native, he emerged out of the vital but often overlooked Southern California free jazz scene in the early 1970s through his work in drummer Stanley Crouch's Black Music Infinity.
