Mujeres, Za! and Furguson live at the Instituto Cervantes in Chicago

After their participation at the South by Southwest Festival, the best of Spanish indie music arrives in Chicago.

Mujeres are four gentlemen from Barcelona who met in college and had the brilliant idea to form a band. They are known for a mix of punk, garage, rock & roll and maybe even a little blues and rockabilly. It is fast, exhilarating and fun. Within a year of releasing their self-titled debut they had a full touring schedule that took them all over the world. Mujeres is pure fun, for the band and the audience. You don't even have to know the songs to sing and jump along. They will present their brand new album Soft Gems (Sones, 2012).

Za! is a band from Barcelona composed of 2 people and 7 instruments (drums, guitar, keyboard, voice, trumpet, kalimba and sampler). Their music combines african beats, noise, thick distortions, vocal loops, free jazz, balinese polyryhtms, math rock, Dadaism… the result is unique each night. They have played with free jazz artists Peter Brötzmann and Paal Nilssen Love as well as Zu and Delorean.

Furguson hail from Gurb (Barcelona). They have opened for Oxford Collapse and Beach House in Barcelona, and have played prestigious festivals like the Primavera Sound Festival and Sant Feliu Fest, the latter where they shared billing with Nueva Vulcano and Pony Bravo. Furguson has a rare and acclaimed knack for combining melody and post-punk elements.
