Paco de Lucía's 'En vivo' USA Tour

Paco de Lucía's 'En vivo' USA Tour

Inarguably the most iconic artist of Spanish musical culture and heritage, Paco de Lucía finally breaks his 5 year silence with a 16-date USA tour from April 2012.

The tour is in support of de Lucía’s 25th album, EN VIVO: Conciertos de España, which celebrates his 2010 live concert tour in Spain. Known for his dazzling speed and technical dexterity, de Lucía was one of the first Spanish artists to explore a variety of musical collaborations outside the realm of flamenco. His prolific repertoire spans from traditional classics, to the ground breaking flamenco-jazz fusion with Al DiMeola and John McLaughlin.

EN VIVO represents an anthology of his most iconic compositions, masterfully reinterpreted by de Lucia and his acclaimed musicians, among them celebrated harmonica player Antonio Serrano, and innovative Cuban electric bass player Alain Pérez, bringing a contemporary element to the traditional flamenco ensemble. The tour also showcases two renowned vocalists, a percussionist, and the rising young dancer "Farru."

De Lucía’s legendary status as the unparalleled master of flamenco guitar remains as relevant today as it has during the past 40 years of his illustrious career. In 2010, the Berklee School of Music presented him with an honorary doctorate; and in 2004 he was awarded the prestigious Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Artes, bestowed by Spain’s Royal Highness, the Prince of Asturias, Principe Don Felipe de Borbón. Paco de Lucía is the first flamenco artist to ever receive this distinction, the most significant contribution to this most Spanish of art forms.
