Beloved Homeland: Glances of Asturias

This show is part of the project Miradas de Asturias which promotes the creation on an archive of unpublished images about Asturias (Spain) taken by internationally acclaimed artists.

Images selected from the best pictures taken in Asturias by Alberto García-Alix, and together offer an intense, poetic journey between allegory and reality from a unique perspective. The journeys of García-Alix are always inner voyages, a monologue that allows him to question us as well as himself.

Alberto García-Alix (Spain, 1956) is one of the most important figures in contemporary European photography.
His work, charged with great intensity and profound poetry, has stunned the world of visual arts, creating his own complex universe. His portraits reflect the spirit of a generation.

Photographer, writer and video artist, García-Alix has presented countless exhibitions since 1981 including his first retrospective in Photoespaña Festival (1998), the Spanish Museum of Contemporary Arts (2002), Les Rencontres Internationales de Arles (2007) or the Spanish National Museum Art Center Reina Sophia (2008). Recently he has shown his work in important art centers in Beijing, México DF and Moscow.

He has received prestigious prizes such as the Spanish National Photography Award and his work can be seen in great collections like the Deutsche Börse Collection in Germany.
