The Spanish Cultural Center of Miami and the Miami Dade-County Auditorium present FlamenGO. This year’s guest is dancer Paula Rodríguez’s flamenco company.

El Centro Cultural Español and the Miami-Dade County Auditorium present FlamenGO. This year, the guest artist is Paula Rodríguez’s flamenco company.

Paula Rodríguez Lázaro will perform her show El latir del mantón in Miami as part of the CCEMiami FlamenGO program in collaboration with the Miami-Dade County Auditorium.

Rodríguez Lázaro, winner of the 2021 Desplante award at the International Festival of Cante de las Minas, will be accompanied on stage by renowned flamenco singer José Plantón Heredia “José del Calli,” who won the 2022 Seguirillas award at the same festival.

As the dancer puts it: “Just as the heartbeat is essential for life, the mantón gives life and strength to my dance. The mantón is my axis, it protects, covers, and expands me. Sometimes loyal and gentle, sometimes rebellious and resistant.”

Paula Rodríguez

Paula Rodríguez began dancing at the age of four. She studied in Madrid, at the Centro de Danza Española and Flamenco Amor de Dios with teachers such as Truco, María Juncal, Alfonso Losa, Pepa Molina, and more exclusively with the teacher Merche Esmeralda.

She continued her training in Spain with Juana Amaya, Andrés Peña and Ramón Martínez, Mercedes Ruiz, Rocío Molina and Eva Yerbabuena.

In 2021, Paula Rodríguez won the prestigious first prize in the Desplante category at the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas. In 2023, she toured with Teatro Real productions through theaters in Japan, Australia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates Europe, and the United States.
