Spanish Comic Artist Miguel Brieva On Tour

Known for his biting yet witty comics, Miguel Brieva offers insight into the graphic world through university workshops, talks, and an exhibition.

Miguel Brieva tours University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Carleton College discussing the creative process in his talk Imaginación, narración y artes gráficas. There will also be workshops at both universities, as well as an exhibition at Carleton College.

About Miguel Brieva

Miguel Brieva was born in Seville (Spain) in 1974 and studied Fine Arts in the University of Madrid. He has worked as a contributor in many relevant Spanish and international magazines and newspapers such as El Jueves, La Vanguardia, Periódico Diagonal, El País, Rolling Stone, Ajoblanco, Cinemanía, among many others.

He has published monographs such as Money, Welcome to the World and the Other World, and with Silvia Nanclares the fairy tale Al final (The End). He has also been involved in the film industry, particularly in animation.

Currently he works as an illustrator for the editorial Akal, a publishing house that creates a whole series of textbooks on ethics and philosophy for secondary education in Spain. Moreover, he has also illustrated the textbook edition of Education for Citizenship.

Miguel Brieva is one of the most creative Spanish artists of his generation. His work is characterized by its criticism and antagonistic humor.
