A selection of short films from Europe, Asia, and the United States screened at embassies and cultural centers throughout Washington, D.C. The theme of EuroAsia Shorts 2011 is men, women, and the challenges of relating to one another.

Nine Countries. Five Nights. One Medium.

The selection of Spanish films includes:

  1. The Award (El Premio), Spain, 2010, 16 minutes. Directors: Pilar Castro and Luis Zahera. Pilar and Manuel prepare for what should be a night of celebration and glamour. It should be. But they’ve been sweeping their relationship under the red carpet for too long. On June 8th at the Korean Cultural Center, Embassy of the Republic of Korea, 2370 Massachusetts Avenue, NW.
  2. Say Me (Dime que yo), Spain, 2009, 15 minutes. Director: Mateo Gil. A man and woman meet just as they’ve each broken up with their partner—and immediately ignite a passionate argument. On June 8th at the Korean Cultural Center, Embassy of the Republic of Korea, 2370 Massachusetts Avenue, NW.
  3. Rights and Responsibilities (Derechos y Deberes), Spain, 2009, 14 minutes. Director: Manuel Dañino. Dani wants to stop seeing his girl in hotels and start bringing her home—until a weekend family celebration. On June 10th at the Embassy of Italy/Italian Cultural Institute, 3000 Whitehaven Street, NW.

Each evening’s screening will serve as a springboard for a lively discussion following the films.
