Book launch: 'Seeds of Grace: Memories of Love, War and Friendship' by Thomas Mermall

In 1944, six-year old Thomas Mermall was the only Jewish child within a hundred miles radius who, thanks to the courage of his father, managed to escape the Nazi genocidal onslaught in Hungary.

In his memoir, Semillas de gracia: memorias de amor, guerra y amistad (Seeds of Grace: Memories of Love, War and Friendship, Pre-Textos, 2011), the author takes us on the long journey from this dramatic moment in his childhood, to his youth and adult life in the United States. The author reveals his personal side through his treatment of issues of family and of the heart with boundless expressiveness and incorruptible frankness, including his difficult relationship with his father, friendship, love, marriage and the devastation of divorce.
