Screening: 'XXY'

Lucía Puenzo, the daughter of Academy-award winner Luís Puenzo (The Official Story), won the prestigious Critic's Week Grand Prize at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival with this touching film, her first feature.

Alex (Inés Efrón), a restless tomboy born with both sexual organs, has reached adolescence under the wing of her protective parents and now faces some stark choices: to continue taking the medications which boost her feminine appearance, to drop them and allow nature to take its course, or to undergo surgery. Darín gives one of his most sensitive performances as Alex's father, a marine biologist who struggles to help his daughter find the right path.
