Miguel Hernández (Orihuela, October 30, 1910—Alicante, March 28, 1942) was one of the most important and relevant poets of the Spanish literature of the XX century. The poet fought in the Civil War by the Republican side and died of tuberculosis in prison when he was only 31 years old. CCEMiami organizes a week of tribute covering film, literature and music to pay homage to the poet in his 100th birthday. Screening of Viento del Pueblo on Tuesday, September 7, at 7 p.m.

Art Exhibition: 'Dibujame un cuento'

CCEMiami, Canopia and Disueño Comunicación present Dibújame un cuento, a comprehensive educational project to promote love of reading, putting emphasis to children's literature. Through the entire month to accompany the exhibition of picture books that will be displayed in our showroom, we will organize activities and workshops aimed at children of different ages. Dibújame un cuento will be on show until October 31st.

Book Presentation: 'Cuerpos al borde de una isla' by Reinaldo García Ramos

Reinaldo García Ramos was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, in 1944. He received a Master degree in Literature from the University of Havana in 1978. In 1962 he had joined the group of young writers El Puente (1962-1964), with whom he published Acta (1962), his first book of poems. From 1980 to 2001 he lived in New York City, where he worked as an editor with several news organizations and as a Spanish translator, for twelve years, at the United Nations Headquarters. He became member of the Mariel magazine Board of Directors from 1983 to 1985. His poetry books include El buen peligro (Madrid, 1987), Caverna fiel (Madrid, 1993), En la llanura (Coral Gables, 2001), Únicas ofrendas, cinco poemas (Madrid, 2004) and El ánimo animal (Coral Gables, 2008). In 2006, he received the XI Premio Internacional de Poesía Luys Santamarina-Ciudad de Cieza for his book Obra del fugitivo (Madrid, 2006). He resides in Miami Beach, Florida.
