Spain Arts & Culture is an ongoing program of annual activities and events that was first introduced in 2008 to generate awareness in the Washington, D.C. area of contemporary cultural trends from Spain, as well as its artistic heritage.
Since then, these activities have been produced annually during spring and autumn in partnership with various U.S. and Spanish entities by the Spain-USA Foundation, in anticipation of the 2012 opening of the Spain/US House in Washington, D.C. This new venue for public and cultural diplomacy in Washington aims to promote the relations between both countries in a wide range of fields, with special outreach to America's Hispanic community.
The 2011 edition of Spain Arts & Culture will be launched in early February next year. All events are organized with special support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Ministry of Culture of Spain. The program allows the Embassy of Spain and the Spain-USA Foundation to strengthen lasting ties with relevant institutions in the Washington, D.C. area.
